Note: Mr. Harrsion is now on vacation till next Wednesday (08/22/2007). He has no access to internet. We apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, he is the only person in his company who can use written English to communicate effectively. He will be back in Beijing on Wednesday, when he will take care of all the backlogged emails and answer specific questions anyone has sent to him. We apologize for the inconvenience and any delays this might have caused to your travel planning.
We suggest you still make your international flights reservation as you originally planned; Peking University will and has the resource to garantee that during your stay in China after the conference, you will get the best available and most economical tour/hotel packages; all these can be arranged on a date very close to the conference. China's tourism industry does not have a plan ahead culture, and does not penalize last minute purchases. So, you will NOT get a worse deal. Rest assured.
The conference organizing committee has negotiated a professional tourism company to take care of various touring need of every participant. The company has previous satisfactory service record to the institute and the University. It is legally licensed and has insurance policies to cover all aspects of the tours it runs. It has very professional tour guides who speak fluent English. They will provide deep discount to Peking University guests (mention in your email that you are participating in the Origin of Early Writing Systems Conference Organized by Peking University). It gives the most competitive price-to-service ratio as far as we know.
It provides tour packages all around Beijing and China, and it also specializes in deep discount hotel room booking to meet your lodging need before and after the conference date.
Please contact Mr. Harrision Wang, at the email address harrison680307@yahoo.com (or call his mobile phone in China: 86-13801051196) to discuss your specific need.
Due to the tight budget of the conference, we will no longer offer after conference free tours. The only free tour is the "change of pace tour of the 'hot' Beijing art scene, led by New York MoMA curator Barbara London' in the afternoon of the 7th.
